Brad Shafer took a second Best of Show at the 2025 SEMMEX show with his F-4 Phantom. CAMS members Mike Orris and Chris Long took best of categories in box stock and Gundam respectively in addition to numerous bronze, silver and gold badges for several entries.
Judges said Brad’s notebook on the build, which replicated his dad’s plane, were among the clinchers.
Mike’s Spitfire was the best box stock build, which means it used only what came with the kit other than paint and decals.
Chris Long’s Barbatos Lupus was named best in category. He also took a stack of coins for his other kits in that category.
Chris was also the only to take any hardware for the club NASCAR spaceship build. The challenge, based on comments from the 2024 SEMMEX head judge’s comment, drew three builds from CAMS members.
