Capital Area Modelers Society

Information about the members and meetings of the club.

Attending the first C.A.M.S. holiday party were M&M William B., M&M Michael B., M&M Dick D., M&M Tony F.,, M&M Steve F & grandchildren, Steve H., M&M Bill H., Henry H., Chris K., Keith L., Chris L., M&M Jason M. and sons, Mike O., M&M Brad S., Reedis T., M&M John W., M&M Norm W.

The evening started with pot-luck dinner, with massive quantities of excellent food. After dinner, Dick called a brief business meeting to order.

Tony had no Vice-pres report. Chris L reported our current treasury balance and gave a breakdown of sources, including membership, Tim Ridout proceeds and silent auction.

Dick gave a brief update of Lansing Model Railroad Club Train show November 9, and reported Chris K, Chris L and he attended the Rose City Modelers, Jackson, November 15, introducing the group to C.A.M.S. and distributing cards and newsletters.Folks reported there were four at the build night at AFK Games on November 20.

Dick noted there will be no build night for the month of December. The discussion of a build night in January led to revisiting the date for the January meeting; the decision was to reschedule to January 8, 2026 (Chris K. complained all his publicity says January 1; the group said “Too bad!”).Thus build night was scheduled for Wednesday, January 21, at Lansing Makers Network; Dick will contact to verify for their calendar.

Reviewing the Army Guard project, Mike O. showed his completed 1/72nd Lakota, Dick showed his Black Hawk fuselage. Brian and John both said they expect completion in January. Norm has experienced numerous complications and his project will be delayed. Dick suggested a status check at the January meeting; if all others are ready, he would contact the unit commander to arrange a presentation. We can arrange a second trip when Norm’s Lakotas are ready. The others agreed to the plan.

Dick reminded that the January meeting involved the election of President, Vice-president, and Treasurer and that Chris L has announced he will not be service as treasurer next year. Dick asked any volunteers or nomination be sent to him before the January meeting  He also reminded that membership renewal/updated forms are due by January 31. The topic for “show & tell” for the evening will be glues/adhesives.

The rest of the evening was devoted to a gift exchange, coordinated and supervised by Tony. In all, the first C.A.M.S. holiday party was a great time.

Our next meeting is Thursday, January 8, 2026. Have a wonderful Christmas and safe New Year.
