CAMS is IPMS/USA Chapter of the Year

CAMS had a strong contingent at the 2025 IPMS/USA National Convention in Hampton, Virginia, to watch President Dick Davenport accept our Chapter of the Year award.

Members also put some models in the competition, with Chris “Fishstick” Long taking first in his category for his Gundam Astray.

In total, three CAMS members put 21 models on the tables in a variety of classes.

CAMS members also gave time to the convention by filling volunteer slots; worked hard to promote the 2026 convention in Ft. Wayne, Indiana; and helped to fill vendors’ coffers.

The COY award is really a flex for a club that is less than five years old, but has grown from two to 20 members and seen several members take on national- and regional-level roles. Members have also been active in displaying and recruiting for the hobby and in charitable community efforts.

Fishstick’s award is his second in so many years in the Gunpla category, which was expanded for 2025 given the growth in entries and interest in the genre.

Not related to the Nationals, but a shout out to Jason McEntire for his win in the Greenstrawberry July Challenge with this Gunpla.

We are looking forward to a great fall season of shows as well as some great upcoming demos and discussions at our fall meetings.
